I had played in the trumpet section with Dean in the NW Symphonic Pops Orchestra for several years. He kept raving about his trumpet business selling CarolBrass horns. It seemed that he brought a different one to rehearsals every time. I tried out most of them! They all played great. I could consistently increase my high range with a CarolBrass trumpet over my well loved and worn Bach Strad.

Then he brought in a CarolBrass CTR-5060H-GSS-Bb-L . It played just like my strad, but the high range was increased and with the gold brass bell... it was sounding ever so sweet and better than my strad. Well , while I still have my Bach, I also have this great CarolBrass trumpet as well. Thanks Dean !

My review of CarolBrass trumpets:

I have had a LeBlanc Vito student trumpet ( made in France, not the USA made in the 2000's) ) for many years. I really like that horn as it was much better than the Bundy student trumpet that I started with. Nice in tune and nice short throw valves.

I wanted to step up to a better trumpet and that is when Dean showed me a CarolBrass CTR-5060L-YSS-Bb-L trumpet. Personalized service, he brought it to my door, in Portland, OR. I played it side by side with my beloved Vito. He played it a bit also to show me its capabilities. No pressure sales, we chatted for like an hour about trumpets, what is out there, history, materials, and manufacturing. He liked my French made Vito also! Then he offered me a great discount off the MSRP. Just wow. The sound , quality, tone , valves all great. I am loving the CarolBrass 5060L trumpet. I highly recommend these trumpets and dealings with Dean Taylor.

I had been looking for a CarolBrass Balanced model 8060H online, and I found that you just can't find any online new or used. I searched for CarolBrass balanced 8060H on YouTube, and I did find some videos / demos of trumpet professionals. Then I went to the CarolBrass.com website, and referenced the USA dealers and found TrumpetSpecialties.com and Dean Taylor.

I contacted Dean, and he immediately contacted the CarolBrass.com factory and reserved one for me, as apparently they are in short supply due to Covid. From the time I placed the order, I had my balanced 8060H in my hands, from Taiwan to Texas in 14 days. Dean has obvious great communication with the CarolBrass factory and he also had excellent communication with me throughout my order.

The horn is excellent and I love playing it. My other main horn is a Bach Model 25.

Purchased a refurbished 1973 Olds Ambassador B flat trumpet, with a beautiful custom satin finish with original case and mouthpiece. Horn arrived in excellent condition exactly as described. I just wanted to take a moment and say I’ve been extremely happy with my CarolBrass Custom “Deluxe Super” trumpet over these past several months. I like the horn so much I’ve given her the nickname of “Rose“ because of the beautiful Rose Brass that CarolBrass used to make the bell and slide crooks from. I know that you are responsible for the entire unique design of the horn from the Red Brass to the Sterling silver

Lead pipe and the large 5+ inch bell and Bach #72 style large taper on the bell. The horn also features nickel inner and outer slides for improved slotting as well as a reversed main tuning slide. “Rose” is visually a stunningly beautiful trumpet and in today’s market where most trumpets are silver plate or yellow brass the warm and luxurious appearance of your brain child is unique. But while beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, the warm full sound of “Rose” is what’s really special to me. You see all of the aforementioned materials in your design, while beautiful, were necessary in designing a beautiful sounding and responsive musical instrument and not just a pretty face. During the last few months I’ve had the good fortune to play several vintage trumpets as well as some well known big name horns that everyone talks about. While I enjoy playing different horns I can tell you most professional trumpets usually do only a few things well and other things not so much. However, after side by side evaluations and several months of comparisons, I can’t find anything CarolBrass “Deluxe Super” Custom Trumpet doesn’t do extremely well. It simply is an awesome all around trumpet that I’m privileged to get to play. I also can’t say enough good things about you and my dealings with TrumpetSpecialities for your commitment to designing new custom trumpets, serving the needs of your customers, and for fair and competitive pricing. If anyone reading my review, and you are looking for a new or used trumpet, you owe it to yourself to contact Dean directly and let him help you.
